"Video of the Week: Feeder
5 September 2005

Feeder are heading into feature-film territory with their new single, Shatter. Taken from their massive Pushing The Sense album, Shatter aarives on 10 October and has been included in the new film Nightwatch. Based on the first instalment of the best-selling Russian sci-fi trilogy by Sergei Lukyanenko, Night Watch is the biggest grossing film in Russian history and the video fro Shatter is being used as a trailer for the movie, complete with a Matrix-like 360-degree lorry stunt."

nightmare.
08:21pm 05/09/2005
every morning i wake up with my radio alarm clock.
over the past days and weeks it has become worse and worse.
every other day a plane crash is announced either in asia or in southern america.
today in austria a skilift was hit by a block of concrete (?????) that fell from a helicopter carrying it.
in the texan superbowl arena, people were raped and killed within what was initially meant as shelter for those who had lost everything except their own life.
the army patrol through new orleans like they do in another part of the world.
people die on the streets or on their roofs in and around new orleans, waiting and hoping for help.
others break into gun shops and kill to survive.
four teenage girls have set fire to a council estate building near paris. just because they fell apart, they decided to set fire to the other one's building.
in paris, buildings that are being squatted by homeless people or those who have no means to have decent housing burn down with their inhabitants.
in portugal, the forest fires still cause major damage.
a friend of mine living near new orleans was first sent to texas, now she is in northern lousiana, where she has food and water. she camps.
she went there to teach french in a primary school, a month ago.
the hurricane now hits japan.
and all of this is only what we are informed of.
i hear the news on the radio and watch them on television. sitting on a couch, drinking a glass of water i can have as much as i want of, and it will not make me sick to drink this water.
i have a roof above my head and i have food.

trap you in a song
01:34pm 10/07/2005

mood: sad
now i do as i please and i lie through my teeth. someone might get hurt, but it won't be me..i should probably feel cheap but i just feel free and a little bit empty. no, it isn't so hard to get close to me: there will be no arguments, we will always agree, and i will try an be kind when i ask you to leave..we will both take it easy, but if you stay too long inside my memory, i will trap you in a song tied to a melody and i will keep you there so you can't bother me.

i went with audrey.
we saw bands we already loved and discovered new bands to love. and saw elvis costello and crosby, stills&nash which was not planned at all. we were very lucky. we even had some nice company during elvis costello that made everything seem too nice to be real on this sad day.

bands we saw!

and you will know us by the trail of dead
isis
audioslave
crosby, stills & nash

the others
the bravery
kasabian

emiliana torrini

elvis costello
anthony&the johnsons
the faint
bright eyes

montreux is tiny, if you ever think about going, get in touch with either audrey or me, we ll be glad to give you a few tips, dont expect too much however, and take books to kill time on rainy days!

scared. helpless.
05:20pm 07/07/2005

mood: sad
only found out from a phonecall early afternoon as we have neither tv nor radio here in our hotel room in montreux, CH.
i feel helpless, i wish i could give dotty a comforting hug.
i cant imagine how scared people must be now. i know that "this is what they want to cause by these acts" but being only human it is natural you react being scared of what happened.

cinemix experience.
12:38am 05/07/2005
went shopping with barbara, she s great to hang out with, she s really one of my best friends.
tonight i went to the open air cinema on my own, it was ok i only went for a thirty minutes short movie as i had to go back here to pack for montreux!
it was a 1928 movie by noel renard entitled "balancoires", and sebastien schuller was playing live music to the movie.
it was magical. beautiful.
how the music he played influenced the way the pictures could be interpreted.
a shame no one i know is interested in such things.
i dont know where my sister is, i guess i wont see here before i leave to switzerland.
i recceived the most beautifully written e-mail in some time yesterday morning. it was not meant to be poetry but it read like poetry. so comforting, and surprising, as coming from someone i barely know and who barely knows me.
i ll book a ticket to london for soon i think. i need to see a friend again, someone i ve known for years and who does care about me.

anchor baby & the girl who had many eyes
09:27pm 17/05/2005
  anchor baby

there was a beautiful girl
who came from the sea
and there was just one place
that she wanted to be

with a man named walker
who played in a band
she would leave the ocean
and come onto the land

he was the one
that she waned the most
and she tried everything
to capture this ghost

but throughout all their lives
they never connected
she wandered the earth
alone and rejected

she tried looking happy
she tried looking tragic
she treid astral projecting,
sex, and black magic

nothing could join them
except maybe one thing
just maybe..
something to anchor their spirits..
they had a baby

but to give birth to the baby
they needed a crane
the umbilical cord
was in the form of a chain

it was ugly and gloomy
and as hard as a kettle.
it had no pink skin
jsut heavy gray metal

the baby that was meant
to bring them together
jsut shrouded them both
in a cloud of foul weather

so walker took off
to play with the band.
and from that day on,
he stayed mainly on land

and she was alone
with her gray baby anhor
who got so oppressive
that it eventually sank her

as she went to the bottom
not fulfilling her wish
it was her, and her baby..
and a few scattered fish.

the girl with many eyes.

one day in the park i had quite a surprise
i met a girl
who had many eyes.

she was really quite pretty
(and also uite schoking!)
and i noteiced she had a mouth,
so we ended up talking

we talked about flowers
and her poetry classes
and the problems she'd have
if she ever wore glasses

it's great to know a girl
who has so many eyes
but you really get wet
when she breaks down and cries.

true blue.
03:23pm 04/03/2005
I am a blue blood I will admit that.
I dance in blue shoes and wear a blue hat.
Live in a blue house, on a blue street,
in a blue town by a blue creek.
I write my blue songs with my blue pen.
I sing the blue notes to my blue friends.
Now I don't know that much about you,
but I like you because you’re true blue.

I had a blue dream about a blue star.
In it I drove there in my blue car.
And when I got there, I met a blue dog
with a blue tongue, we had some real fun.
We bounced a blue ball. It broke a blue glass.
We banged on blue drums and called it bluegrass.
Guess the thing I'm trying to tell you,
is that it’s best kid if you're true blue.

Once I had gangrene, I got it real bad.
And so the Doc came with his black bag.
I said "You know doc, I don't feel swell.
If you had a blue bag I think I'd feel well."
So he came right back with a blue sack.
He said, "Will this do?" I said, "Why not? Yeah."
That’s how I am here today to tell you,
that it’s best man to be true blue.

Out on the blue sea I sailed a blue ship.
I had a first mate, always had blue lips.
His name was Bluebeard.
He had a weird twitch.
We flew a blue flag on a big stick.
And we ate bluegill and we ate blue chips.
Oh, I felt real blue eating that blue fish.
conor oberst
Because there ain't much that I won't do,
unless it keeps me from being true blue.

Once in a blue moon there’s a blue sky.
I wear my blue jeans and fly my blue kite.
Hangs like a bluebird until the wind dies
and then the tears pour out of my blue eyes.
If it’s your birthday, we'll bake a blue cake
and then we'll eat it off these blue plates.
‘cause kid I don't know much about you,
but I like you because you're true blue.
Yeah, I don't know much about you,
but I like you ‘cause you're true blue.
